Abstract

rGO (reduced graphene oxide) material are synthesized by thermal reduction of graphene oxide from oxidized graphite by the improved Hummer method. rGO after synthesis was assessed by suitable performance measurement methods and mixed with epoxy to create coating on wood floors. The coatings were assessed for their ability to shield electromagnetic waves in the X band (8÷12 GHz) with specialized equipment. The evaluation results show that the coating (1mm) containing 15% of rGO-2 can shield electromagnetic waves up to -15,4 dB (97,11 %) at 8 GHz. In addition to the high magnetic barium ferrite material, the electromagnetic shielding ability of the coating was also increased, particularly with a 0,5 mm coating using 15% rGO-2 and 15 % barium ferrite effective shielding of electromagnetic waves has increased from -8.21 dB (84,89%) to -10.59 dB (91,27%) at 8 GHz.
