Abstract

This paper proposes a modified S-RVoG model to exaggerate the accuracy for forest parameters estimation on hilly terrain using polarimetric synthesis aperture radar interferometry L-band data.  In the proposed model, the vertical structure of the forest is modelled as a volume of random scattering objects with a heterogeneous distribution through a variable extinction coefficient in the canopy layer.  Based on the proposed model a novel approach is developed to exaggerate the accuracy of forest parameter estimation.  The effectiveness of the proposed method was assessed with data from PolSARprosim software. Compared with S-RVoG model, the proposed model has a higher accuracy of 6.198%.
