Abstract

This study proposes a solution to monitor and warn the status of electricity usage for households. For households using Analog AC power meter, PZEM004T and MCU-ESP8266 modules are used to measure electrical parameters and save to MySQL database via webserver service. Information on electric energy consumption and warnings are provided to the user through the web service. For households using Digital AC power meter, the MCU-ESP8266 module is used to read data from the meter's memory. This data is brought to the internet using Google's Firebase service. Electrical information and necessary warnings are displayed on the user's smartphone application. Experiment results with 3 current thresholds show that the proposed solution has warned with a high accuracy rate, and can help users reduce their electricity usage behaviors.
