Abstract

In this paper, research on complex heat treatment technology to improve the impact toughness of 30CrMnSi steel is presented. Microstructure and mechanical properties (hardness, strength, ductility and toughness) of 30CrMnSi steel under the complex heat treatment regime were investigated and compared to the normal heat treatment regime as the basis for evaluating these heat treatment regimes. The experimental results show that the impact toughness of the steel is significantly improved through complex heat treatment. Specifically, complex heat-treated samples give impact toughness nearly twice times higher as normal heat-treated samples. Normal heat-treated samples give an impact toughness of 0.43 MJ/m2, complex heat-treated samples give an impact toughness of 0.85 MJ/m2.
