Abstract

2,4,6–Trinitrotoluene (TNT) in soil was recovered with ultrasonic extraction and measured with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results obtained with the GC-MS method had a linear concentration range of TNT from 5.0 to 500 ng/mL with a limit of detection was 16 ng/g, the relative standard deviations (RSD) under 7.1%, and the recovery was 80.5%. While, The Linear concentration, recovery, RSD, and LOD with the LC-MS method were 5.0- 500 ng/mL, 90%, under 6.2%, and 3.1 ng/g. The results obtained with this procedure agree well sensitivity to detect at trace TNT levels in the soil around Cu Chi tunnel, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City.
