Abstract

The paper presents the research results to find out the Lagrangian particle dispersion model combined with the Weather Research and Forecasting Model integrated into the latest Flexpart-Wrf software version 3.3.2 and applied in the radioactive emission process simulation in a hypothetical accident from the nuclear power plant of Fangchenggang, China. In this analysis, the authors simulated the dispersing process of radioactive material with 500,000 137Cs of particles emitted in the factory area at a time with 1-hour resolution. The results show a good fit of the model used with the movement of the regional weather model in Northern Vietnam and allow the forecast of detailed movements with high reliability of radiation propagation from the Fangchenggang nuclear power plant. The research results will be the basis for analytical calculations, forecasts, support the decision making and the most appropriate measures in the response to nuclear radiation incidents and rescue operations in Vietnam.
