Abstract

Real-time internal calibration method for digital phased array antenna system is being studied and widely applied. But this method also has signal leakage in the module which causes large errors in calibration and is a big challenge when calibration with high accuracy is required. The article proposes a solution to create and distribute the calibration signal (CalSig) for channels in receiver calibration in order to reduce the correlation between the leakage signal and CalSig, and increase the accuracy in calibration. By generating a different set of CalSigs and pairing the two modules into a pair in the receive calibration, the CalSig from one module will be extracted to the other. This solution overcomes the requirement for high isolation between leakage signal and CalSig. The effectiveness of the proposal is proven through simulation, the results show that the proposal is highly effective.
