Abstract

Based on the PLCO model, the model of AlSi9Mg alloy connecting-rod fabricated by semi-solid squeeze casting (SSSC) process is established and simulated by PROCAST software. The effect of process parameters, such as ram speed (or applied pressure), pouring temperature and die preheated temperature on die cavity filling, filling ability and solidification process was investigated with corresponding experimental verification. The reasonable process parameters of AlSi9Mg alloy connecting-rod fabricated by SSSC were further identified: ram speed v=0.05~0.20 m.s-1, pouring temperature Tp=570~580oC, die preheated temperature Td=200~350oC. The simulation results are significantly approved with corresponding experimental ones, that verifying the reliability of the calculation models and the software algorithm.
